MATERNITY
Every pregnancy is amazing and different. Each little kick, the baby hiccups, the dark line running up your belly, all indications of the perfect little baby growing inside. It seems impossible to know the little person in there, but one thing is always clear- how much you love that little one growing inside. When you look back on this life-changing experience, how much will you really remember of that cute bump? Maternity portraits do more than just capture what you looked like, they take you back and allow you to re-experience the awe and wonder (and yes, maybe a little bit of fear) of becoming a new mom. One day, when your kids ask what you looked like, you’ll be able to show them. And they’ll know just how much they were loved from the very beginning.

The Process
Reserve Your Session
Maternity sessions are generally scheduled between 30-35 weeks gestation. This is typically the “sweet spot” where you’ve got an obvious baby belly, but don’t feel too uncomfortably big. To reserve your session date on my calendar, a contract and session fee must be submitted. *The session fee is non-refundable and does not include any prints or digital images.

Once you are on the calendar, we will start getting into the fun stuff- planning your session! I offer maternity sessions in the studio as well as outside in local parks, so we can chat about what works best for you and your vision. I also have a huge client closet with over 50 designer maternity gowns in all colors and sizes. You are more than welcome to come for a visit and try on dresses prior to your session if you’d like to plan ahead, or you can give me an idea on colors and I can have some pulled and ready for you!
We’ll also look into options for any artwork that you wish to create for your family or home. I’ll ask you to really think about how you want to enjoy those images in the future. I offer many different types of art including canvas, framed prints, wood mounted prints, boxed matted print sets, and traditional albums. You can view some of the beautiful products offered here to get a better idea.

On our scheduled session day, you’ll come see me at my new studio in East Lyme, CT OR on location at the selected venue. The studio is stocked with coffee and snacks, and even a few toys for any siblings!

1-2 weeks after your session, you’ll be invited back to the studio to view your images and select any images and artwork you wish to purchase. All images in your gallery will be fully edited and ready to be delivered that same day. We’ll use some amazing software to custom design your wall art, ensuring you’ll love your printed pieces throughout your home! All purchases will be done at this time, so I ask that all decisions makers attend this meeting. Most clients spend anywhere from $600 to $2000, but there is no minimum for purchases- you only buy what you fall in love with! Prints start at $150, and packages start at $590.
FAQs
I’m about to pop! Is it too late to do maternity pictures?
Of course not! As long as you are feeling well and up for it, I’m game! I would recommend doing the session sooner than later, so reach out ASAP!
I have older children as well; can I include them in a few portraits?
Absolutely! While a maternity session does focus on mom, I encourage siblings and partners to participate as well.
Do you have any maternity dresses I can use?
Yes! I have been collecting designer maternity gowns for years and have over 50 in my client closet! If you have any questions on colors, sizes, or styles I’d be happy to have you over to try some on prior to your session. If there is a specific designer gown you have your eye on, let me know! I’m always adding to my collection.
