NEWBORN
Every newborn that comes for a session with Jessica Veara Photography is treated with all the love and care a new baby deserves. You’ll feel right at home relaxing in my cozy home studio stocked with all the baby goodies you could need, with toys and snacks for older siblings. We’ll pull from my personal collection of gorgeous props specially designed for newborn photographs, and can incorporate any color scheme and style preferences discussed during your consultation. Each newborn portrait experience is as unique as the baby being photographed, and designed to complement your family perfectly!
Newborn sessions are generally scheduled based on your due date. Keeping in mind that babies have a plan of their own to come out whenever they are ready, the actual session date and time will not be set until after your little one has arrived. Please don’t worry yourself over if you are early or late, I only schedule a handful of newborns per month to allow plenty of wiggle room.

The Process
Reserve Your Session
To reserve your due date on my calendar, a contract and session fee must be submitted. The session fee varies based on what type of session you would like for your baby, and does not include any prints or digital images.

Once you are on the calendar, we will start getting into the fun stuff- planning your session! You’ll receive a questionnaire to discuss your preferences and any ideas, likes, and dislikes you might have. Based on your input, I’ll pull props and outfits from my collection to bring your vision to life. My studio is fully stocked with every color you can imagine so nothing is off limits!
We’ll also look into options for any artwork that you wish to create for your family or home. I’ll ask you to really think about how you want to enjoy those images in the future. I offer many different types of art including canvas, framed prints, wood mounted prints, boxed matted print sets, and traditional albums. Within the first two weeks after your baby’s birth, you’ll come see me at my new studio space in East Lyme, CT. The studio is stocked with coffee, snacks, and toys for older siblings so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy a little break (and maybe even a nap!) while I work with your baby. All you have to bring is your sweet baby, diaper bag, and food for the little one.

1-2 weeks after your session, you’ll be invited back to the studio to view your images and select any images and artwork you wish to purchase. All images in your gallery will be fully edited and ready to be delivered that same day. We’ll use some amazing software to custom design your wall art, ensuring you’ll love your printed pieces throughout your home! All purchases will be done at this time, so I ask that all decisions makers attend this meeting. Most clients spend anywhere from $600 to $2000, but there is no minimum for purchases- you only buy what you fall in love with! Prints start at $150, and packages start at $590.

How far ahead of time should I book my newborn session?
Trick question- it’s never too soon to reserve your session with Jessica Veara Photography! I do fill up ahead of time though, so the earlier the better.
What if my baby is already born?
Please reach out ASAP! The ideal time for a newborn session is within the first two weeks as they are still so fresh and sleepy. While I’ll never turn a baby away due to age, I will do my best to set the expectation that all poses may not be possible. We will still get some beautiful images that you’ll love, so it’s definitely still worth doing!
Can I bring in items from home to use during the session?
Yes! I love incorporating sentimental items, I just ask that you send me a photo ahead of time so I can plan out how to work them into the session flow. Please do try to limit the number of items you bring to one or two of the most important ones to ensure enough time for a well-rounded gallery.
